Best Buy Haul
Well, I didn't get Soul Calibur IV. Did any of you guys? Our Best Buy was sold out of Infinite Undiscovery too.

I didn't get there right when the store opened, so it's partly my fault. However, the employees lamented to me that there were only two copies of it to begin with, so maybe it's just as well. Fighting over 2 copies of a game with video game nerds is not my idea of fun anyway, and I would have been LIVID if I was waiting before the store opened and still didn't get a copy.

I called 3 other Best Buys when I got home. Sold out. So was the website- couldn't even have one shipped to me. I guess I'm simply not meant to have Soul Calibur IV right now. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before there's another good deal on it though.

Anyway, I decided on a $50 budget to put some games on my credit card, and here's what I ended up getting:

007: Quantum of Solace
C&C 3: Red Alert
Guitar Hero III
Supreme Commander
Unreal Tournament III

The only one I've played so far is Quantum of Solace. Quantum is a pleasant surprise- the graphics are very detailed, I like the soundtrack, and the gameplay is similar to Gears of War. It also came with a free 007 t-shirt, which I definitely plan on wearing.

I got Infinite Undiscovery, but only because we're a small/slow store and started the day with like 15 of them. I promise I wasn't hoarding!

Yeah we were out of SC IV on the 360 before we even opened, and the PS3 version sold out in less than an hour. It was a losing battle for HUNDREDS of nerds in that 8 hour shift of mine. Man what a day.

That's cool, I'm glad you got one! Hey, even if you were hoarding, I couldn't say TOO much... when I worked at GameStop, there were restrictions on us buying sale stuff, but we regularly grabbed the good trade-ins. Haha.

By the way, do you have a current Xbox Live Gamertag? I had requested Specific Chris, but it didn't seem like you were using that name much anymore, so I cancelled the request.

Yeesh. Sounds crazy. Glad you survived the nerd herd with your wits intact!    ;)

We lucked out and went to a store where there were only like six people waiting outside, so I ended up getting pretty much everything I wanted. I walked out with Silent Hill: Homecoming, Pure, Ninja Gaiden DS, and Command & Conquer Red Alert 3.

...and PopStar Guitar and The Naked Brothers Band for the Wii, but don't tell anyone.

Thanks for the heads-up on this whole thing, by the way! Totally happy that I got Silent Hill for exactly what I wanted to pay for it.

You're welcome. I'm glad you were able to take advantage of it and get some good deals!

I had considered Silent Hill and Pure (really fun demo), and I may end up getting one of them anyway, since Supreme Commander does not work at all. It's just as well, since it was kind of an impulse buy, and the 360 port has some poor reviews.

I hear 'ya on Homecoming. The reviews have been middling, but hey- it's Silent Hill! Also, the soundtrack is supposed to be very good.

P.S. Have fun on Popstar and Naked Brothers... I mean, uh, MADWORLD and HOUSE OF THE DEAD: OVERKILL!

Ended a bust when I went, but that's fine; grabbed a copy of Order of Ecclesia for 20% off at the SFIV tournament, though, and that's pretty much better to me than what I could've gotten (okay, well, Soul Caliber would've been great, but price standards trending should knock at least $10 off of it from now on).

Aww, man. I'm glad you got a good deal on OoE though. The GBA/DS Castlevanias are generally great games.

Yeah, there will be other deals on SC4. If nothing else, it's almost inevitable it will go Platinum Hits.
